Letter home 9/3/18

Hello Families of Room 15!

I hope you are all doing well. I sent home a letter with your learner on Friday regarding a make-up Back to School Night, this Wednesday from 5:30-6:00 PM. I hope you will be able to make it! If not, below you will find some important information regarding homework, etc. and I will send home a copy of the PowerPoint presentation on Thursday.

Homework is consistent week to week. Your learner should have brought home (unless they had their own) a white notebook, which is named their "Reading Response Journal" ("RRJ"). They read EVERY day for 25 minutes, and then respond to one of the prompts (they can choose a different one every day) on the sheet that should be glued into their journal. I did not receive journals from many students on Friday. Please check to ensure that the required reading and responding gets done every day.

1-2 pages of Math will be assigned daily, and will always be due the following day.

Students receive a Spelling Packet on Monday. This is due on Friday. I recommend that they complete one page per day, to help them learn their Spelling words. Spelling tests are every FRIDAY. The graded test will come home on Monday, with a "sign & return" stamp (for the first few weeks--if you would like the test back, please tell your learner to let me know, and I am happy to return it!)

Please check our class website ( go to Henry Haight's website, the click on "faculty", then look for 4th grade and my name.)

I update often, and there you can find out what we are doing in class, what events are coming up, and more!

Please email me anytime with questions and/or concerns that you may have. Thank you very much for your support--together we best support all learners!

I look forward to meeting you,
