We need YOU! 5 parent representatives needed for Haight's SSC

Please nominate your self or a fellow Haight parent or guardian for a position as a School Site Council Representative!

The School Site Council is a group of parents and school staff that work together to put together a strategic plan to meet the needs of our students for the upcoming school year.  This plan includes our academic goals and focus for the entire school.  We also focus on what steps will be taken to ensure that the goals are achieved and what resources that will be used to achieve these goals, including the use of our Title 1 funds.  It is composed of an equal number of parents and teachers, along with the principal.  Members serve voluntarily for two years.

We currently have five parent/guardian vacancies on our SSC.  Please consider serving our school community by adding your voice to our SSC! More information and nomination/Interest Form here.

Parent Information and Help - What is Eureka Math and how can I help my child?

Haight Families!  Do you have questions about our new math program, Eureka?  Want to know more about how to support your child with math the "Eureka Way"??

Alameda Unified is using a new math curriculum called "Eureka Math".  It teaches students K-5 how to understand math at a deeper level and teaches them alternate ways to solve problems. It  looks very different than the way most of us learned math.

There are resources to help families understand Eureka math and learn how to help their child.

Please click on this link to find examples of Eureka homework for grades K-5 for parents.

Please click on this link to see videos of each Eureka lesson for grades K-5.

Toolbox Learning at School and at Home

Haight teachers and staff have been trained in a social emotional curriculum called Toolbox.  All of our students are learning about the 12 tools that can be used throughout the day and out in the world.  Ask your child about the tools - they can teach you the breathing tool!

More information can be found here: Toolbox Parent Handout

In addition Heart-Mind Mindfulness teachers visited all Haight classrooms for a 16-session mindfulness program that taught them how to pay attention, improve concentration, resolve conflicts, and develop empathy.  A perfect companion to our Toolbox Curriculum.
